Today.

4.28.2011

Even though I was still sick today (This is probably my three millionth sinus infection), there were many things that made today beautiful.

Seeing the first signs of Spring. The art of cupcaking. Wearing flowy lace and vintage pearls. Sharing a rhubarb muffin with a friend. Reading Frankie. An afternoon nap on the trampoline, and waking up the chirping of birds. Reading posts by my lovely friends, Libby and Kendall. Listening to good music (, and ). Frolicking down the empty school hallways with an amazing friend. Laughing.

What made your day beautiful today?

Another Beautiful Weekend

4.25.2011

Despite the fact that I was feeling quite sick, I had a lovely Easter weekend. I spent the weekend at a hotel in North Dakota with lots of family members. Most of the time, my family was making me laugh so hard, that I couldn't even think about being sick. :)

We had little picnics by the pool while we visited with each other and watched my little cousins frolic and dance. These two (above) love dancing with each other, and it's the cutest thing.

My sister and I sat by the pool and read Oh Comely and cupcake magazines, played Scrabble, and drank Arizona Green Tea (Yum). You lucky Americans have way more Arizona flavours than we do!

Of course, we made time for just a bit of shopping. My favourite find was this lovely floral romper. Perfect for Summer!

At the hotel, we set up a little Easter scavenger hunt for my little cousins. They looked around the hotel for Easter eggs, and when they found them all, they got to open them all up. Inside were little goodies like stickers, chocolates, bracelets, etc. They're faces, when they were convinced that the "Easter Bunny" had come to the hotel? Priceless.

At Barnes & Nobles, my sister and I found this crazy little book called "Wreck this Journal". Basically, it's a journal filled with different ways you can wreck the journal! So much fun. Check it out here.

Ahh, windmills. A sure sign you're back in Canada.
When I got home, I was so surprised to see that I was the winner for Carlotta's Spring Photo Challenge. Thank-you so much, Carlotta! :)

I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend. Tell me about it in the comments.

Weekend Snippets

4.18.2011

Oh, how I love weekends. They give me time just to think, or time to do whatever it is I feel like doing. This time around, the weekend gave me time to play with my beautiful little cousins, hunt for antique books in the library basement, drink pomegranate tea in vintage teacups, bake fresh buns with my Nana, and just appreciate all the little things. It was perfect. I would really love to share some photos with you. :)

What did you do on the weekend? Or, what do you plan on doing next weekend? Do tell.

I hope your week is fantastic,

Abbey

Birthday Blogging

4.14.2011

A delicious Starbucks cake-pop from my Nana and Grandpa. Yum!
Today is an exciting day for two reasons. One: It's National Look Up at the Sky Day. Two: It's my birthday! Today I turn sixteen. No, it doesn't feel much different than fifteen, but birthdays are exciting nonetheless, right? :) This morning, I received a 50mm f/1.8 lens for my Canon, a beautiful cupcake display stand, and a couple of other little goodies from a few lovely family members (Thank-You!). In the afternoon, I went out for lunch with a good friend, took many photos, and spent time with family. It was so nice. :)

I hope you all had a wonderful day,

Abbey

Three Things I Love #3

4.11.2011

1. Walls painted with chalkboard paint. I'm re-doing my bedroom this Summer, and I'll definitely be painting one of the walls with chalkboard paint.

2. This double-decker bus vintage shop. How exciting would it be if you had the chance to go for a little shopping trip in here?

3. Milla Plum's adorable little vintage ensemble. Milla is the daughter of James from Bleubird Vintage. Like Mother, like daughter. :)

Hello, Weekend

4.08.2011

Oh, weekend. I'm so happy you're finally here! After a week of not feeling so well, I'm feeling much better knowing that I have the whole weekend to relax. My weekend actually started today (we had a day off school), and it was lovely. I woke up, only to see the windowpanes coated with little rain droplets, and rain falling from the sky. This excited me, as I have a strange love for rainy days. My Mum and I went to a cute little cafe for lunch and tea smoothies. It was delicious. I spent the rest of the day just hanging out at home, playing the piano, listening to the (500) Days of Summer soundtrack, taking photos of raindrops, and reading The Book of Awesome (a book about the little things in life that are, well, awesome. A must-read.).

An Award and an Outfit

4.02.2011

Hello, there!

I was recently given the Stylish Blogger Award by the lovely Libby. Thank-you so much, Libby! I think this calls for a couple of outfit photos from today. :)

First two photos taken by my sister, Chloe.
Jeans and a Spring jacket would have been much more appropriate for the weather today, but I just couldn't help myself. This outfit puts me in a good mood!

Cardigan: Old Navy
Top: Thrifted
Shorts: Forever 21
Shoes: Forever 21
Scarf: Borrowed from my Nana
Jewellery: Vintage
Tights: Borrowed from my Mum

When awarded the Stylish Blogger Award, one must list seven unknown facts about themself. So, here I go!

{One} One day, I will own a little shop filled with vintage clothing, antiques, beautiful handmade items, and sweets (cupcakes and macaroons, anyone?). This shop will be called, you guessed it, The Inglenook.
{Two} I collect vintage film cameras.
{Three} I'm usually a Winter person, but I can't wait until Summer, when I can just sit outside all day while drinking iced green tea and reading issues of Oh Comely.
{Four} I want to travel many places and see the World.
{Five} Everyday, the second I get home from school, on go my Padraig slippers.
{Six} I'm going One Day Without Shoes on April 5th (and hoping that my teachers won't give me heck).
{Seven} I love tea. Especially ones with interesting flavours. Summer-berry and Black Forest are my favourites.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Abbey
