On another note, I've been teaching myself the importance of saying no sometimes. I just want to do everything, but then in the midst of this hectic everything, all I long for is a few moments of nothing. So this week, I've taken breaks. I've declined offers. And I've thrown the guilt over my shoulder. Because it's essential to my sanity.
Speaking of my sanity, some things that have been helping me keep it as of late:
movie nights with ma petite souer || barefoot tetherball games in the backyard || issue nine of oh comely || mama's homemade sun tea || dressing up just to run errands || warmth || so very maturely blowing bubbles with my favourite girls || the skirt (above) my auntie patti made, years before i was born || our fernweh playlists || the fact that it's almost time to plant seeds || exciting personal projects
How about you?
Music has been helping me keep my sanity. Also reading. J'adore la quatrième photo. :)

you're right, it's so hard to say no sometimes because we don't want to miss anything. but sometimes just taking a step back is the best way to replenish calm (and sanity!) beautiful photos and fashion, lady! xx.
ReplyDeletelove love love. that's all. x
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you!! It has been so grey and nasty in Virginia! YUCK. I am getting depressed. But on the bright side, you take AMAZING pictures, always. The first one is fantabulous. Really. I'm pinning it. :)
ReplyDeleteAh, your pictures = happiness. Not to mention you're beautiful, girl! And I can relate about the "saying no" thing. It's so hard sometimes -- yet so necessary! :)

I hope you know how amazing your photos are! Also, I've noticed you use French every once and awhile in your posts and was wondering if you speak it? I've been a French Immersion student since kindergarten so it's always neat to see other people using it too! :)

that first photo is utterly breathtaking. bubbles are the greatest. actually, last week when i was babysitting my favorite children, we played with bubbles... until the three-year-old, sammy, dumped a half gallon of bubbles on the deck, then started playing in them. :)
ReplyDeletesaying no can be one of the hardest things to do, but one of the best things to keep sanity. "all I long for is a few moments of nothing"... love it.
xx.

Abbey--I SAW YOU IN OH COMELY. Today, I had an orthodontist appointment so I left partway through school, and since Oh Comely had just come in the post my dad gave it to me to read in the waiting room. On the page with reader photos, there was one of you, holding your magazine. I assume you know, it had your full name in it, but it was very exciting for me to shout out, "It's Abbey!" in a silent waiting room.
ReplyDeleteAnd saying no--I need to say that more.
i feel like my sanity has left for a while, which is why my blog and my voice in all realities has been ridiculously silent. but i've had music and beautiful days and honestly, the silence, to keep me sane for the time.
ReplyDeletethis green made me feel ALIVE, Abbey! it's so, so beautiful! <3
