living inside a prairie snow globe.

11.23.2011

I don't have a lot of words right now. Perhaps I'm coming down with a mild case of 'blogger's block', or something of the sorts.

Life's been busy lately. It's been hard at times. New things are happening, and I'm not going to lie, it's taking some getting-used-to. But at the same time, life's been exciting. I'm finding beauty in this whirlwind.

One thing I know for sure? My favourite season is here. I'm living inside a prairie snow globe. My winter heart is happy.

i'm loving

painting. it's true, i complain about art class deadlines. i get the urge to "accidentally" spill my cup of tea all over the canvas when things aren't going my way. but with every painting, i get better and better. this craft is turning into a passion.
~
surprise visits from nana & grampy. they just make my day.
actual quote: "i love you, grampy." "what? why? i'm just a fat old geezer."
yep. best grandpa ever.
~
city trips. four of them this week. art gallery field trips. drama productions. uncontrollable laugher on long bus rides. the famous 'red cups' a la starbucks. i'm not really a city person, but i quite like days like these.
~
padraig slippers. i don't think i've gone a day without them since last christmas. so cozy.
~
peering through my lace curtains, and marvelling at the grapefruit sunrise. then going upstairs, and eating a breakfast to match it.
~
scrabble games. i love having an avid scrabble player for a nana. even my english teacher thought it would be a good idea for the class to play scrabble, rather than do schoolwork. he definitely has his priorities straight.
~
letters. so many letters. carlotta, libby, & katie are the best pen pals ever. seriously.

Typical canadian question for you. What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

xo

  1. Lovely post, as usual! And the photos? Flawless. Like dang. You are simply an amazing photographer with a really good eye for photography.

The weather in North Carolina has been about 70 degrees and in South Carolina (where we currently are for Thanksgiving) it is in the mid 60s. I am so eager for some nice, cold weather!

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Oh and two questions!

One: Are you on a stack of HAY BALES? My goodness, that is the biggest stack I have ever seen if you are.

Two: I saw that the Starbucks coffee cup had French on it. Can you speak French? :-]

  5. Gorgeous pictures -- I especially love the first & last ones. That's so cool how you're on all that hay, haha.

The weather in my usual neck of the woods is pretty mild (70 degrees?) but here in Kansas where I'm visiting family it's a bit cooler (40s).

Your enthusiasm for winter might be infectious; even though it rarely snows in Texas I'm still excited for the coming days. :)

  6. oh, abbey. i just love you. you're such an amazing person and an inspiration to me.

it's 57 currently, low of 48 {oh my lip gloss we just might get a frost} perfect weather for the holidays. of course, this is texas, so it's better that 113 humidity/heat.

beautiful, beautiful post. also, i was wondering if you could give me some tips on painting? i want to get into it :))

  9. Weather down here in Oz is wavering between 30 & 40 degrees (that's Celsius) during the day and it's typical November weather - hot, humid and starting to feel like summer should - warm, humid and wet (no rain yet but :(). Enjoy your winter you northern-hemispherites! Like the rest of the souther-hemispherites I'm loveing summer!

  13. I sometimes wonder if Canada is just a bigger version of England with more snow. Because it's feeling so similar! We talk about the weather a lot.
It's cold and foggy but not snowing yet.
And I am so glad to have you as a penpal!
